About the book

A story about coming home to my body

For years I tried to change my body so I could finally feel enough. This book is the honest story of that war with myself, and of the slow, imperfect path back: learning to treat my body as a home instead of a project.

It's for every woman who has ever felt she needed to shrink to belong. I hope you see yourself in these pages, and close the book feeling a little more at home in your own skin.

Words from early readers

Your book has been a blessing. Through your story I walked through my own, and having the questions and exercises helped me hold all those memories. It's an incredibly therapeutic book. I know it will be a little bandage for many souls.

Thank you for trusting me to read your book. You tell a very compassionate and honest story that can help young women (and maybe men too) move past the demands of the 'normative' body, and young parents who want to raise their kids with love, remembering that each generation does what it can with what it has.

I'm only part of the way through, but I feel so connected. It's incredible to feel I wasn't alone facing all the challenges in my relationship with my body. The book is really raw yet healing.

I devoured that book, haha. I loved it!

Dear Alejandra, I read your book and loved it. Thank you for showing yourself as human and reminding us that every day we can start again. Thank you for teaching us to set boundaries with family, friends, partners and even ourselves, and to say to ourselves every morning: "good morning, I love you."

Early readerBook

I really liked the part about the role of parents. As the mom of a little girl, in a world so full of fantasies and wrong beliefs, it's a challenge to show her that everything she feels and sees in herself is okay, and that no matter what the world reflects back, her inner peace comes first.

Early readerBook

I love that it's easy to read but full of information. I'm the mom of a 2-year-old, and the dedication to parents really got to me: a lovely reminder to watch how I talk about myself in front of him. I love the emphasis on not commenting on other people's bodies, and the exercises at the end of each chapter.

Early readerBook

Above all, THANK YOU for opening up and considering us that safe space.

Accepting my new body after becoming a mom was hard, and sometimes it still is, but I'm at peace with myself. That's why I love the book's message. We need to read about real problems and real people's experiences, and stop idealizing the perfect life we see on social media.

Early readerBook

I'm loving your book! Sometimes I want to post a part of it and then remember it's not published yet. I need it to come out already!
